With the calendar officially flipped to 2022, it’s time to take one final look back at 2021 and relive some of the Nastiest Pitches of the year. We’ve hand-picked sixteen of the nastiest, filthiest, most disgusting acts committed by pitchers during the season, and it’s now up to you to vote and determine which pitch will be crowned Pitcher List’s Nastiest Pitch of 2021.
Voting has closed for the first three rounds, but click here if you’d like to look back and see all sixteen pitches in all their glory. For this round, voting will run throughout the day and every vote counts. Each round will run this week and the winner will be announced on Twitter on Saturday.
This is it. The battle for all the marbles. Two NL West pitchers square off in the Terrific Two for the Nastiest Pitch of 2021 crown. Take your pick!
Kevin Gausman’s Splitter (1)
Blake Treinen’s Sinker (2)
The time has come to choose the Nastiest Pitch of 2021, and it’s between two of the nastiest pitches of the decade (so far). Kevin Gausman really turned things around in 2020 and he kept that going in 2021, helping lead the Giants to a division title and earning himself a fat new contract in the offseason. Meanwhile, Blake Treinen finished another terrific season as the Dodgers’ setup man and should now slide his way into their closer role assuming Kenley Jansen departs once the lockout lifts. Both of these pitches have earned their place in this championship matchup, and now it’s time to decide which is the cream of the crop.
